Overdrive would be mandatory with the 4BT. They can not turn enough RPMs to get to highway speeds without one.
I am running a 327 V8 through a SM420 4 speed trans and a NP200 transfer case with 4.83 differentials. I run Michelin 9.00 X 16 tires. It turns 3000 RPMs at 60 MPH and will run 70 MPH all day and will go faster without issue.
It would be best to use a WC centered axle in you PW. It will save a lot of wear on the transfer case and will be a lot quieter.
