I have never heard of "countersunk allen headed screws", but I have heard of socket head cap screws placed in counterbored clearance holes and flat head cap screws placed in countersunk clearance holes ;^)

Don, just thinking, another option may be to pilot on dowels instead of the front bearing retainer. May be easier than finding a way to retain the bearing retainer adaptor.
