Galen,
We met a few years back when I went to PN. on a parts hunt, looked at you WC you were thinking of selling. Still remember your little girl playing in the snow and you, trying to "corral" her!

Anyway, you have to use common sense when using SS fastners. Suspensions, steering stuff I would NOT use anything but ARP's products.I believe they have a web site but I don't have the address. They have SS fastners with 170,000 psi tensile strength so they would take it. Do be sitting when you get prices on them though. The 400 series stainless are most generally able to have a magnet stuck to them while 300 series stuff can't.

The different series have their strong points as far as machining, welding ,and such.
300 series is the premium stuff and is more expensive. Interestingly some 400 series stuff rusts fairly quickly.

For better prices search out flea markets, surplus stores, and aircraft outlets. Generally sold by the pound and you often can find them mixed in with the other bolts. Take a magnet with you to tell what's what.

It was my understanding that some stainless can NOT be heat treated. I believe some of the 400 series can be. It has been my experience that drilling problems come with work hardening the material but it is more difficult to work with than mild steel. Hope this helps and sorry for the long thread. Kevin
