Stainless steel fasteners-questions

After looking at the red 1962 PW for sale, I was stuck by how cool the stainless steel fasteners look-of course not authentic but what the hey, I am interested to know more on stainless steel fasteners, are they very exspensive, readily available, as strong as original carbon steel nuts and bolts, will there be a "chemical reaction" if used on ordinary steel parts over time? Any help appreciated
