I refer all to John Zentmeyer's "Power Trains and Interchanges", TM9-1808C, from Portrayal Press. To put a 9.625" 3rd member in a 8.875" axle housing one must use 3 gaskets. And if the (front) housing has 1-5/16" splines the inner axle shaft must be changed to 1-3/8" to match the side gears.
