(Not perfect, but it works well enough.)

AMBULANCE OF FIRST LINEA DODGE M615 1 TON. (4X4) During the First World War the Americans they learned that the quick and sure one I transfer of the injured since the front of battle to the rearguard they were as important as their attention in the hospitals of rearguard. To achieve it, in this period, they were affected furgones commercial to the ones that backups for the stretchers were added and that, out of the moments of transportation of injured, they were utilized for general end. During the years among both world wars they went themselves developing specific and apt vehicles for the function of ambulances. With the advenimiento of the double one tracción, these they adapted to be able to circulate out of the roads that in and of itself they were intransitables in the front of battle. Among the first developments the small truck is found Dodge, series WC of ¾ of ton and double tracción adapted of other similar models for diverse military uses. The variant sanitary one possessed a box closed, metallic with capacity to accommodate four stretchers or eight men sited down. As opposedded to subsequent models, in this said version box was found united to the cabina of conduction, what today is considered a monovolumen. The ambulance Dodge WC54 I enter service in November of 1942 and was utilized for all you arm them and in all the fronts inside the I exercise American. This version and other subsequent with light modifications continued lending service until finalized the war of Korea and some the first years of the American participation arrived at in Vietnam. In 1950 it it was replaced for the version called M43 of lines but square and equipamiento more more modern. Al to be required large quantities of this ambulance, above all in the front of the Pacific, the Chrysler chose for modifying its commercial vehicle called Power Wagon, doing it 4x4 and adapting it to the sanitary version. This was heavier (1 ton) that the WC54 and its among more more long axes. This variant one was called M615 and had the same one sobrevida that its smaller sister. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Motor: Dodge T 214 of 6 cylinders in line, 230.2 of cubic capacity. 113 Hp to 3200 rpm. Box of Velocities: 4 marches ahead, synchronized and box of transferencia of simple march. Maximum velocity: 100 km/hour. Electric system: 12 volts. AMBULANCE DODGE IN ARGENTINA As the 99% of the material one rodante of our army the first sanitary units originate of rezagos of the American after the Second World War or to excedentes of the War of Korea. Thus this ambulance arrives that had final destiny mainly in the army of ground, although some few went for air force and other less for the navy. Originally they arrived some WC54, but not they were demasiadas, given that still they were necessary in Korea. The model M615, heavier and long that the WC54 not they turned out to be so useful to the Americans and enseguida they began to sell them to other countries. These they went the most diffused among our armed forces. They began to arrive at mediados of the fifties and assets remained to their I replace for units Mercy Benz Unimog and Jeeps M170. at the beginning of the seventy. With the step of the years they went performing small modifications, sobretodo of the interior where each seats were placed longitudinales to both sides of the box instead of the two lower stretchers, remaining only the two superiors that were holded to the carrocería through couplings in the lateral. Toward the end of its operating life himself potenció the motor and an electric equipment of 24 was placed volts. The photos of the model correspond al that is found in exposition in the Regiment 1 of Patricios in the neighborhood of Palermo of Capital. MAQUETA FOR AMBULANCE ARGENTINIZADA Of fact does not exist a maqueta of this model not even to do the model one American, but the most most approximate one and that can be taken like base is the model of the firm Italeri (Nº 226) based on the Dodge WC54. To carry out the model utilized with more frequency in Argentina (M615) primarily they should extend the chassis 2 cts. approximately. The two most most difficult jobs correspond to upper part of the radiator that in the model of ours I exercise was more redondeado than in that of the maqueta. The ideal thing is, to take like base that of the Dodge WC54 and to do a copy in wood with the dimensions of the base and tallarlo up more redondeado or, to begin as of a rectángulo of plastic and to work it with sandpapers and gubias to giving him form. One must trim with Cutter the cover of the radiator and placing it in the done piece in scratch. The other laborious job is that of the box that has nothing to do with that of the maqueta. This it is higher and narrow that that of the model one WC54, is straight and does not present edges so redondeados. The wheel of aid is not found stuffed in the lateral left but is external and is placed upon the lateral right. The paneles lateral they are simple, without molding and, in it splits trasera upper carries respiraderos of sheet molded. The portones subsequent they carry the same dimensions but the windows are rectangular as opposedded to the redondeadas of the maqueta of Italeri. Al to elevate the box should be elevated also the envelope roof of the cabina. So much this elevation as the box they can be done with plasticard or, as it is known in our country, PVC of high impact of 0,5 mm in thickness. This material is easy to obtain in the street Uruguay among the 300 and the 400 where there are several houses dedicated for sale of this and other similar materials. They can be taken advantage of the subsequent fender and all the interior of the same one, as thus also the roof, but without the nervadura upper. Finally the lateral stirrups should be prolonged that go since the forward fender to the traseros. Upon that of the left side a box of tools should be added. In it it splits subsequent one must add a zócalo wide since where they finish the doors to the paragolpes that does not bring the maqueta and one must do it since zero. In this way the step is annulled plegable of the model one WC54. Tuning up the pencil also to should replace both forward lighthouses that in the national version are unique and of greater dimensions.

113 Hp a 3200 rpm.
