I have a 68 CMU-6,the identification plate reads U.S. ARMY shop mobile, set no 3., contact maintenance lightweight dodge, wm 300, 1 ton, 4x4, built buy davey compressor co in kent, ohio,
the truck has no rust at all, and not even a ding in the sheet metal, 20000 miles, even the floor mat is in good shape.
it has almost all the factory equipment, hobart pto driven generator ac/dc 110/220/3 phase 240,-welder, battry charger, motor starter, oxygen acetylene, welding and cutting kit, tire tepair kit, a huge tool box, lights, hydraulic tire removal kit, a really big drill/lathe, angle grinder and some more, the truck also has all the military lights, bush guards (different to those in the m-601), mu-2 winch, tailer equipment, double booster brakes, electronic rear brekes (mico lock hill holder) a 38 gal fuel tank.
the truck manual states that only 179 of these trucks where made.
who has any information about the history of these trucks, and information about why the US ARMY used these militarized WM 300 trucks instead of the M 715 (called M724 for a similar for the same equipment).
right now, the truck was stripped (9 layers of cammo paint) and painted in the factory OD, no restoration neaded.
any information will be appreciated
