You might think about a set of Michelin 7.50R16 XCLs. They are 31.7" tall and about 8" wide mounted on 5.5" wide rims. They'd probably fit fine on rims down to 5.0" wide. They have the same directional tread as the bigger 9.00and 11.00R16 XLs. It wears rather fast when driven distances on dry pavement, especially in hot weather. The rubber is quite soft which actually helps traction on ice and wet pavement, which I'd rate at "fair to good". Traction in fresh deep snow and mud is "excellent" or even "fantastic", definitely better than NDs. And they are far better than NDs on wet or dry pavement. They also "look military" and were standard equipment on French Hotchkiss military Jeeps. They aren't ridiculously expensive because they aren't all that big. The 9.00s and 11.00s run $250-350 new, the 7.50s will be about $150.
