Hi Brian,
OK,...I'm going to piss off somebody but here goes.. This is really like comparing apples to oranges because there are several different uses for the types of trucks that you mentioned. The Original Power Wagons WC's etc, were military trucks for a specific use, which was moving men and materials from point A to point B. They were expected to be expendable yet rugged. Funny thing is they are still arouns after 60 years. They move slow, ride rough, and do their job still. The Civilian Power Wagons, the 1946 to 1968 WM300's (and many other designations) were designed as a work/farm version of the originals. They too are tough, slow, ride rough and are noisey, BUT they too do their job very well.
The pure Civilian Power Wagons, the W100, W200, W300, W500's and later models built in the 70's shared few components of the military/civilian "flat fenders" BUT they were tougher than ANY truck made by any other manufacturer. They ride a little better, go a little faster, ride a little quieter and are a little less tough, BUT pushing ANY Dodge is better than riding in any other brand truck. These trucks were and still are the best ever made, bar none.
In the later models (and earlier for that matter) you will have to lookout for rust, full time systems which are less than desirable and a few other quirks that we all put up with. But you will be part of a small but proud brotherhood (OK, I know there are Dodge women out there too!)
Good Luck with your search. Post a question here or at the 61-71 Dodge Truck Association site and you will find many, many knowledgeable people willing to help you out.
