Out this way, -- about 30 miles north of the north east shore of LAKE Ontario the power reached the farm in late November 1952. I remember it well, I was 5 1/2 years old. The program was called "Rural Electrification"
Private Delco Gen Sets were few and far between. For most, coal oil lamps were the norm, an Aladin lamp was a luxury, and for some folks they only brought it out if company stopped by in the evening. It seamed as though the Antique Pickers followed the Electrical Utility trucks around, as they would soon show up to buy the old lamps, and what ever else they could once they got inside the door. As the old folks say, My oh my how the times have changed. Wait a minute there, maybe some of us are already "the old folks". JJB.
