Turn signal and marker light weirdness turned out to be bad ground on left front lamp housing -- same as my '65 D200. Turn signal/marker housing relies on sheet metal headlight cowling for ground. That piece is held to the body with 3 sheet metal screws that go into nylon inserts, which means the only ground is where the sheet metal contacts the other sheet metal, hopefully hard enough to rub through the paint and rust. Adding actual ground wires is the fix for the frustrating intermittent problem.
