Not fused or badly burned. Have been rummaging around for the spare points and good takeout coil I was sure I had, but can't find either, of course. Still don't see how the wire from dist to coil could burn up while the wire from coil to battery via ballast resistor is just fine. Something is really weird. It's almost like the dist-coil wire is a fusible link -- the end terminals are molded on, and it gets hot way before the primary wire does.

One thing I don't like about the old trucks is they have no fuse block. They seem to have just added "modern" electricity one circuit at a time and done it by connecting onto whatever was nearby.
