Ethanol-proof rubber has been around since WWII era. I looked it up to find good fabric for today's fuel in mechanical diaphragms.

Gas always went bad, but today the refineries are using more components that they didn't used to. Might be why lacquer thinners and acetone got so expensive, it's all going into the pumps?

Hmmm, just exactly which components evaporate? Can we replace them? An ounce of say, toluene, in the mower before parking it perhaps?
