Weld three 5/16 nuts every 120 degrees to the wide part of the seal face. Then use a harmonic balancer puller with three 5/16 bolts and it will come out easy. Much more civilized and it will save your knuckles from getting smashed with the hammer while doing all that chiseling and prying.
