I have done as you suggested without any change. I have it split on the inside edge almost all the way back. I straightened out a heavy duty seal puller like it was butter. I put a two foot cheater bar on the end of it and it just straightened the puller without deforming the seal. Unbelievable. I will keep trying to collapse it on itself.
