The reason the mfg went from 6vt to 12vt is they use smaller wires and cost less. If you use the right battery wire size, and make sure you have a good clean ground. It will work fine if, starter, and battery is good. Most people will run down to Autozone and buy a battery lead of the right length. Problem is those are #4 wire. It should be single 0 or double 00 wire for 6vt. 6vt has half the voltage, so it has twice the amperage, and needs double the wire size.
