Every answer you have seen here is right. Wow.
1) Chase all the threads
2) Use copper coat on both sides of a copper gasket
3) Use HIGH temperature thread sealant on every bolt that penetrates the water jacket. (including the Tstat housing....)

Tighten them to 20 or so foot pounds, then 40 or so, then final. Then again when warm.

I hope your head is flat or has been shaved ?
