It can come from the gasser but it is not as strong. The output shaft has 23 splines. If you want to use the cummins clutch you need to change the front shaft which is quite simple. Be very careful you do not have some odd ball out put shaft, there are a few around. If you are talking about a Chev NV4500 , some parts on the early model are no longer available- mixing it up with the Dodge parts is possible but costly - the later GM trans are better than the earlier version - at least when it comes to parts interchange.
All this off the top of my head,,,and before breakfast,,, might have a error tucked away but the gist should be correct.
