As I recall, they are far rarer in the USA than any of the Chevy or GMC 2-1/2 ton trucks.
Most of them were shipped to Soviet Union under Lend Lease. I agree, they were the best which is why the Russians wanted them for their terrible weather and worse road conditions. Well thought out design, notice the flat deck fenders. They were built strong enough for a mechanic to stand/squat on them without a problem.
