question about crew cab power wagons.

i was wondering how they join the 2 cabs together. i know they are welded..do you just leave the door post that holds the door on the truck that is going to be the back half and does it fit fairly well almost like a continuation of the original cab or is there more there than I'm seeing.... i know its not to simple but i have a friend that does body work for me and was going to ask him to do it for me.. i have another cab..
