On all the projects and vehicles I've worked on with drum brakes I've done the following. When using new pads on new or turned drums I take the pad and place it in the drum to see if it rocks or to see if there is no contact in the middle(high on the outer edges) when it is OFF the vehicle before install. I've never had an issue so would this be a wise suggestion for others to follow on there rebuilds? It takes the guess work out of it me.

I started doing this just because things get ordered or boxed wrong so often anymore but I think it would be a good thing for this as well. Thoughts???
