You have to look at what it costs to overhaul/repair a comparable truck. M-37 Engine Overhaul- $2-5K. M37 tires- $1400-1500 depending on if you need to ship or not. M-37 body and sheet metal-body work and a paint job can run you $1500 to $3000. M-37 Canvas is $1200.00. A wiring harness is up in the $1000 range. Generator, Voltage Regulator, Starter, Carburetor overhaul- count on $200 each if done right. The prices of what it costs to restore these components add up. The $11,500 truck with trailer, if everything is nice and it isn't a spray-gun overhaul, all items functional, is not a bad price. The $5000 one, if it was running and driving with a solid engine and set of tires, was a good deal. Can you get away cheaper? Yes, you can. But at some point in ownership of one of these vehicles, you will need to pay attention (and money) to some of the above mentioned systems/expenses.

That said, I have confined myself to WWII vehicles. But I sure do miss my M-37. It was a great truck and I had a lot of fun with it. Good luck with your search.
