can't measure length of installed crank

Kaegi: I don't see how I can measure the installed crankshaft now to compare it to the old one. Am I missing something? The only real measurement I could come up with is the distance between the bell housing and flywheel.

Chris: I will call VPW today. My TO bearing looks like the one on ebay.

The reason I'm scratching my head is this all worked before the engine rebuild. It is almost like something changed on the flywheel, but the starter engages properly, so don't think that is the problem. I don't like the idea of shimming the flywheel, if my shim is off .002" that gets multiplies to 0.030 at the outside of the flywheel.
