There are going to be perfectly good cars being scrapped because the owner loses the keys and the car isn't worth the cost of having a new key made. I have a friend right now who hasn't driven her car in almost a month because she lost the keys and doesn't want to pay $400 for a new one. So the car sits in her driveway and she rides the bus, while she keeps looking for her keys.
