I am pretty sure the volume isnt constant just mass. Compressors create pressure by reducing the volume occupied by same mass. Think of the diesel cycle itself using 18:1 volume reduction even on pretty cold days the compresiion is enough to heat air above the autoignition point of diesel (440 degrees). Turbos are still compressors just centrifugal instead of positive displacement.
