modern radio cuts out on 1960 W300

my son and I recently installed a radio in my 1960 W300 318 Poly and original style generator. When the vehicle is running, the radio cuts out briefly, like for a second, and does not have an issue with the key turned on and not running. Is this an interference caused by the generator and how to solve it?
