We looked over an early WDX to B2PW that showed up at the VPW Rally in June. It had probably the best condition original bed wood I have seen on a PW. The general consensus was that the boards appeared to be mixed species. There was a lot of edge gluing of thin strips to make the boards, some down to an inch in width, and nearly all joints were NOT parallel with the final edge cuts on the boards or the skid strips.

There were also more knots in the wood than I expected to see. These were mainly in what appeared to be the oak strips. It also appeared that the edge gluing was done in a manner to help keep the final product boards from cupping (thin strip bark side up, next to thin strip bark side down, then up, etc.)
