There are guys with planes who go "prospecting" for old vehicles by air. It's easy enough to find who owns the property and send them a letter. Next, I suppose, will be drones programmed to automatically search for certain kinds of vehicles. Of course on the coast there are not only entire trucks, but often small houses, hidden under tangles of blackberries in abandoned pastures. It's not like Nevada where everything is out in the open and perfectly preserved (aside from rubber and paint).
