If they kids used any force on the levers, it could have caused some trouble inside the transfer case.
If you have a winch, then make sure your winch drum clutch and the PTO are not engaged.
Whatever it is, don't try to force anything.
And don't beat on the kids. You might force them into a lifetime of commitment to KIA ownership. :)
