I think the Signal Stat 900 will be your best bet, and here's why I think so:
- The wiring is isolated from ground so you can wire it hot or negative.
- The body is easy to disassembled to paint, and they are still available in black Bakelite.
- They look totally vintage to me.
- You could probably install a set of compression springs to return the arm to center for momentary contact.
- It will be tough to get the indicator lights to function due to interior clearance, but you could install dash indicators.
-The 4-way lever could be converted to momentary by removing the catch pawl.
- The original arm is short for an 18" steering wheel (I like mine with my stock wheel), but you could fab a new one out of round stock.
