A word of caution here. Keep in mind that the right rear lower shock bracket is 1 1/2" shorter than the left rear bracket. The reason for this is of course due to the position of the pot for the differential.
Therefore on the left side once you install the lower shock stud it aligns dead on with the top shock stud. But on the right side you have to install the shock stud into the lower bracket before mounting it on the axle and u bolts. Now you will notice that the end of the shock stud does not align with the top one but, will be that 1 1/2 " to the right of it.
If you use the old style shock with the ring on the ends (as I assume Clint's are) then I would think they can handle this 1 1/2" offset with no problem. However if you are using the Monroe shocks as sold by VPW, or a similar shock with the end barrel or straight tube ends with the rubber inserts in them then this will definitely be an issue.
To make it fit I gave the rear right shock a 1 1/2" offset. I pressed out the rubbers, used a zip disk to cut more than 3/4 of the way through their welds at the edge of the barrels, used the vice to hold the barrels, sprung them in opposite directions 3/4", then slowly welded them back up solid again, then pressed the rubber inserts back into place. This keeps the shock end barrels horizontal with the bed of the truck but, the shock itself slopes 1 1/2" to accommodate the short bracket.
Before painting the yellow shocks black, I decided to read the fine print on the upper section. --- It warns you, "Do not weld on these shocks". Therefore I am sure my warranty with Mr. Monroe is null and void but, it fits and functions well. JJB.
