I like your second idea. The bolt through the valence doesn't have to thread into anything on the bracket. In fact, I could insert a rubber grommet into one of the holes in the bracket, which will help with sound isolation. Then just one laser-guided screw through the valence and through the grommet. The beauty is it's removable, should the motor need service. I like this....
