Interesting article. Obviously written to generate business for them (BJ). It is a truck that has not had a lot of demand in their world. Other trucks have had much more exposure in the show world and have had their prices pushed up. A big negative for most people was simply the lack of body parts. Most rebuilders would rather put a new piece of metal on rather than fix a beat up and rusted fender. This is especially true for the heavy metal that the PW is made of. Matt is now making many parts that are of great quality. Think back 5 to 10 years and remember how hard it was to get body parts like rear fenders let alone cab parts.

Legacy and Dan M are putting out modern PWs that are attractive to many buyers. Dan seems to make a much nicer truck in my opinion. They have shown the truck can be rebuilt to look and drive very nicely. Jay Leno drove one of Legacys trucks and had good comments. They are opening up the market.

The PW is unknown to a lot of people as they were a real work truck and did not make it into the hot rod or show circuits. When I finished and started showing my WC53 Carryall 15 years ago people really liked it because it was so unusual and not known to most people. The awards that I won were for Most unusual, Great truck, Just Because. Judges had no category to put it in and most shows did not have a Dodge Truck category like they did for Ford, Chevy and some imports. The Carryall very consistently wins simply because it is well done and so unusual. But best of all, the people like it. I find that people across the board (all ages of men and women) are attracted to it.

Judges are really interesting to watch. Some are very open and honest others are closed minded only pick vehicles that fit their preconceived ideas. I have seen the former head judge at Hot August Night turn and walk away from my carryall several times he would never judge it. It did not meet his idea of a vehicle that should be in the show. He would turn his back when I drove by. It was so obvious. I mentioned it to a person I met and actually they had a chance to see him do it. Interestingly a couple of days later he came and really took a close look at my carryall. I later found out that the person I talked to was one of the board of directors. That is why I enjoy talking to and showing the carryall to the people walking through the show.
