As far as end play on the pony crankshaft is concerned I know all about that. When I bought the D2, that pony flywheel was doing the old "In and out" like you wouldn't believe. I just bit the bullet and installed new ones along with rod bearings and rings after honing the cylinder walls. Not micing anything beforehand, I got lucky. No more end play and oil blowing out the exhaust pipe. It's been about 10 years now since I rebuilt it.
