Hi Sherman,
I believe the PW sealed beam headlight is much bigger than the Cat unit, if you are using the original Cat Guide Unit. I have a 1940 Cat D2/3J with the Cat electric start pony motor set up. I decided to go to an 8V group #1 battery which is the same size as the 6V. All I had to do was adjust the Voltage regulator unit of the Regulator to 9.4 volts and it works perfect. Did not have to mess with the current or cut out unit of the regulator. The Pony spins much faster than with the 6V battery. All 6 volt bulbs are rated 6-8V if you look at the writing on them. What model Cat do you have? RD4,7J,T, or U series?
