Jim
I have STA superlug 900 16 on my '46. I had them siped when mounted, fore packed snow and ice. While they are, in my opinion, an acceptable tire for the truck, I am not as happy with the tread design for traction. The old, extinct Good Year 900 16 was, by far, the best, in my opinion, in the bias ply world. The STAs will likely do all you want them to do in your area, with the constraints others have mentioned about "freeway speeds".
My truck is completely stock, so 45-48 is about max. And, fortunately, we have NO FREEWAYS near where I live. I am perfectly happy to drive my truck at 40-45, and when I want to get in a hurry, or travel some distance, I drive my '06 CTD.
For comfort, I wish the Michelin clones had been available when I bought my STAs.
