Having done a restoration project, I'm not sure this isn't the way to go if you want a resto-mod. Not sure it's any less work but you will get a much more useable vehicle, It won't look right to anyone who knows, but at the end of the day all the powertrain swaps in the world won't compensate for 65 years of technology, not to mention the parts availability.
