But vapor lock often happens on the suction side too. Any restriction in the line, like a plugged filter, pinched line, or a rubber hose peeling internal layer. Or an air leak from a loose fitting or a rust hole in the line. Or a non-vented cap, particularly the M37 cap when set to 'ford' position.

And a weak coils can mimic fuel starvation on acceleration and up hills, because the richer mixture is too hard for a weak spark to light off.
