The Scout uses SAE#4 and a 727 auto or a T19 4 speed married to a Dana 20 or Dana 300.

SAE #3 is common for B and C series Cummins, there are some #2 Cummins flywheel housing out there, but the big #2 housing is going the wrong way.

I like the little Nissan motor. They are tidy and easy to work on. They are nice and quiet, but I've never been satisfied with the power output.

That yellow motor is naturally aspirated like the one in my '78 Scout. Mike has an '80 with the turbo. They are 3.3 liter.

I've wondered if the 4.0L Mitsubishi diesel offered in 1/2-ton Dodge pickups in the late 70s would be any better due to the extra cubes? The Mitsubishi might be harder to get parts for. A long time ago, there was magazine article with a 1/2-ton Command Car going over the Rubicon with one of those diesel.
