I've never known a "modern" car or truck more than 10 years old that didn't have a number of minor things not working, usually electrical gizmos. Things quit, it costs too much to have them fixed, and the vehicle is usable anyway, so owners accept the gradual deterioration as a fact of life. It doesn't help that the designers are forced to pursue fuel economy at all costs, so everything is made as thin and light (and flimsy) as possible. When everything works, they're amazingly comfortable and economical, but "everything works" is a rare and magical condition that soon disappears.
