Not a motor but a generator. I lent my friend my 4000 watt generator to build his house. When I got it back the motor was bogging with nothing plugged into it, he was saying the contractor was complaining about how much fuel it was using. I looked around and low and behold there was a screw laying across two wires in the alternator. looked like the fell out of an extension cord plug.I guess when the guys were putting things in the truck and threw a cord on the generator, a screw fell into the alternator shorting it out. Unfortunately it toasted the field coil and I had to replace it, it was a bummer, no good deed goes un-punished ha ha.
