From my experience the ford was the worst straight six that I ever operated as far as fuel economy was concerned. My 1961 235 GMC was at least 40% better.If you want torque and performance potential consider a 292 GM, I dont know if it will fit your app but they make good power and I know of at least one that runs in the tens ( with lots of mods)
