Mike,
Good point.
I understand your concern and agree that everything has a proper time and place. I am not sure about 8th grade in this particualar school, but in the school that I was involved in, the only time when a student was in front of a computer was either in typing or computer skills class, the library, or the study hall. In the case of typing class, All internet activity should be turned off or at least severely restricted. In the case of computer skills class, the power wagon sites may or may not have as much value as any other "approved site". In the case of the library, the power wagon / off road vehicles may or may not be involved in legitimate research. In the case of a PC sitting in the yearbook research office, one can argue that a powerwagon can be a legitimate student interest or hobby. I agree with you in that there is always going to be students that would surf this site because it is more fun than doing the assigned work. Just like I would sneak a Hot Rod magazine in to "study" when I would have been better off hitting the math books. Also it cn be argued that almost every kid has access to computers off campus. It just makes me a little nervous to condem these vehicles as not worthy subject of some school projects. I guess its a case of restricting the few for the benefit of the many.

As for Kyle, If you can present a good case for including this site in parental guidence inclusion list on your computer at school, they might allow it. If you are just surfing the site because your bored, may its a good time to catch up on your English reading assignment.

Best Wishes
Lonnie
