Yes there were 2 ratings for the PW. One was 8700 lbs and the other was 9500 lbs if I remember correctly. There were two spring packs available on the rear. One had fewer leafs than the other. I am not sure if front had different leaf counts or not. I do not know if the rating was related to having 7.50 X 16 or 9.00 X 16 tires. It does make some sense. My truck has a 9500 load capacity but has the smaller spring packs if I am correct.

I have loaded yoy my PW (9500 lb GVW) to 10,400 lbs (a frontend loader overloaded it with gravel). That is a scale weight they weighed me on the way in and out. The springs were down in the back and I would not do it very often and only for very short trips. That was a pay load of 5,400 lbs. The truck weighed 5,000 lbs empty. These trucks were built tough.

I do get calls from time to time asking for help in picking up heavy loads for friends.
