I have $5.00 say's it is not the Ballist resistor. Try the coil. If the engine will start and continue running after the you release the key from the start position when the engine is cold the ballist resistor is OK. Look to the coil is your spark orange or blue. Orange indicates a weak spark. Also it could be in your distributor, the pickup coil could have a problem where it stops working when hot. Electronics do that. And lastly it could be the control box. You can buy all these parts for less then $100. at your local parts store.
