Boy am I a dummy. I always wondered why Dodge resistors had 4 terminals instead of 2 like everybody elses. Whod'a thunk it... a resistor for the crank mode too! As a 38 year old geezer raised on points, I was taught that the function of the resistor was to drop voltage arcing across the points; if you bypassed it while cranking, you got a hotter spark with minimal harm to those points. So the next dumb question is: why the hell do you need a resistor on electronic ignition at all? But see, if I'd had a wiring diagram, I'd have known what those extra 2 wires were for. No diagrams over the net, huh? Also to the gentleman who suggested tightening the carb- I did that. I do have a minor vacum leak in the brake booster which upsets idle, but I can't believe I can't pump enough gas into the manifolds by pumping the gas to overcome that. What do you think, guys? Thanks for all your expertise. Owning this thing has been an excercise in disillusionment- I've replaced almost everything once, now you're telling me about parts I should buy in case lots. Thanks again.
