Correct me if I'm wrong, but a "jump" is not a problem from vehicle to vehicle, as long as the + goes to the +. As long as the bodies of the vehicles are not toughing, at least. I usually refrain from such intimate contact when "jumping", as it proves hard on the sheet metal. Fear not getting a little extra current on a cold morning regardless of which terminal is grounded.
