dodge sheetmetal problems

After suffering the heartbreak of a nifty M37B1 and a W200 rust out from under me, I read that dodge was having some sort of trouble with the steel coil stock that they used to stamp body parts. The article I read claimed this started about 1967 or 68. It seems to be acknowledged that B1's and civilian dodge trucks built in the later 60's and early 70's fell into this bad steel situation. I never read the details of the story though. Does anyone know exactly what the problem was with the steel, and what was done to correct it? One of our dodge historians ought to know, eh? Did this problem extend also to the WM300's being made at the same time, or were they somehow different steel? I had a 1973 W200 that obviously was affected, as it actually shed body parts in the road when the rust became advanced. Looked suspiciously like the electrolytic rust one sees in a boat, with big angry blisters and scales! So, does anyone remember the story?
Regards,
Jack
