Jim,
The numbers pertain to the model it is or style.
WC21,22 open cab pickup body,WC23 command car
WC24 command car with winch,WC25 radio body,
WC26 carryall,WC27 ambulance, WC40 closed cab pick
up,WC41 closed cab-no body.Sometimes the military
needed a few "odd set-up"trucks-Like wreckers,
pump trucks, ect.I would assume this is why they
had a model manufactured without a bed.I don't
know about civilians getting them but I doubt
it.When they started switching to the 3/4 ton
models they gave the 1/2 tons to towns and farmers
who needed vehicles but couldn't get them because
of rationing. My understanding is these trucks
were made into 42 but I have no way of knowing
about your truck.I'm working on a WC40 right now.
The history of a truck is always interesting to me
also.Glad to help you in your search, feel free
to ask any questions.Dodgers helping each other
is what it is all about and that's what I like
about the forum.Thanks Joe!! Kevin
