Actually, as I think about it, I guess I've only been using Syntec for a couple of years. Prior to that, I was using a certain popular synthetic brand that worked admirably, but tended to cause seals to leak a bit, perhaps due to shrinkage. To be fair, this particular brand has supposedly added certain esters that keep seals soft without dissolving them, and the problem is apparently fixed. I've never had this problem with Syntec, but I suppose that virtually all of the other synthetic brands have improved their seal compatibility recently, so I don't think this is still much of an issue these days.
